The first session I ever did in here was the famous rhythm and blues sing Bobby Blue Bland, over the years I have done a lot! At the time I was living in Athens, playing with a band called The Decoys. We played at a place called union station every Tuesday night. One night, Jimmy Johnson came up to me on a break, introduced himself, and asked me if I wanted to play on a session the next day. I said sure and that was it. I love doing session work, playing on people’s records and creating. It’s just like when you take pictures or when somebody paints a picture. Music is the same way, it’s just an invisible palate. I’m thankful to be able to contribute to that, but my number one thing has always been to play in a band; I like the camaraderie, I like the spontaneity. I look at it as music therapy for me.
