One of my students called me the Bob Ross of music. I teach people joy in music, not necessarily how to play one instrument. I like to create a comfort with music instead of play this page, turn the page. I had a really boring piano teacher growing up and I wanted to not be that.

I played the piano growing up. I went to see Shoals symphony when I was 12. I realized as pianist I would be very much alone and as a violinist, I would be a part of this group moving and breathing together. The thing I am the best at is inspiring them to want to play. I don’t challenge people; I inspire people to challenge themselves.
