We did a production deal with PBS for this show called “reconnecting roots” It’s about The American spirit and technology and how it’s progressed from the beginning of the country to now, it’s a history show. We are injecting modern elements into these traditional songs like This LittleLight of Mine, Redwing, Home on the Range.
It’s inspiring being here certainly. The past is always present here. We definitely have some influence from the traditional soul music, but for the most part we just bunker down here and forget. We mostly just like it’s here because it’s quiet. I think that was a lot of the draw for people recording here in the old days, it hasn’t lost that. It’s still a quiet place to be inspired.
When we lived in Nashville, there was always a show, our friends were always doing something. It was awesome being immersed in a creative community but here it’s quiet and I think we can organize our thoughts a little more. The stuff that we’re making is genuinely coming from us and what we are interested in. I am so much prouder of the music I have made here than the music I was making before I moved back. The town or the environment here just pulls it out of you, there’s just too much noise for us in Nashville.
