Clayton Davis
Clayton Davis is a practicing public historian with a background in public and historical archaeology. Davis received his undergraduate bachelor of art degree in anthropology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Following his time at UAB, he worked as a field technician for Tennessee Valley Archaeological Research, a private archaeology firm conducting surveys in compliance with historic preservation law. Davis holds a master’s degree in public history from the University of North Alabama. He is now the historic resources manager for the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area. Davis has worked on Hidden Spaces since 2021, first as a graduate assistant and then as historic preservationist for the MSNHA. His contributions include oral history transcriptions, exhibit development and installation and overall interpretive strategy development.
